L’Accordéoniste

I took this picture in France, many years ago, during the 35mm film days. This was my very first attempt at street photography and it has remained one of my favorite pictures. I remember using a Canon SLR with a 75-300 mm lens. I was very shy back then and hid behind the camera. I remember this instant vividly when the accordionist looked in my direction and smiled as I captured the moment.

  1. Yes, Valerie, I agree. It’s a very special moment that you captured. Your subject connected perfectly with you, and it makes the image. I think one starts out with an “eye.” Then the craft is learned and perfected. I’ve had similar experiences. I enjoy your photos so much and getting to know you through them. Hoping we can meet one day for some in-person shop talk.

  2. Candid street photography is great but it is often this eye contact and interaction you captured that is the difference between a mundane and a great picture.
