The Medieval Knights of Minneapolis!

I discovered something quite unusual… The Minneapolis Washburn water tower was built in 1931 in a medieval revival style of architecture. You can see its dome, shaped like a Roman warrior helmet, from quite a distance. As you get closer, the ominous giant knights that guard the tower are quite an impressive sight. It is located in the Tangletown neighborhood at 401 Prospect Avenue. Well worth the detour if you live in the Twin Cities!

  1. Very nice photos. If I’d passed by it, I don’t think I’d have thought it was a water tower and, I’m certain, without having seen it through your lens, I would not have near the same appreciation for it. Thanks for that. I’ll have to make that detour and check it out.
