The Artist and The Space ~ Philip

Philip is a stained glass designer. His space, unlike the two first featured artists, is much more industrial due to the medium he works with. Phil’s studio is on the top floor and every inch of the space is used. He was working on a piece for a client when I visited him, folk rock music was playing, the door was open, I just walked in. I immediately noticed a large mirror leaning again the wall behind him and saw some creative opportunities of silhouette reflections. As we talked, I found out that he was an expat from England, although there was very little trace of an accent. This created an instant common bond and we shared a few expat stories and sarcastic comments on the current US president 😉

The shoot was more challenging than the previous ones, the space was obviously not quite as romantic as a painter’s atelier, but Phil’s passion for his craft was just as palpable. I had a great visit and captured the following frames…
