Car People ~ Back to the 50s 2019

It had been a few years since I visited the ‘Big Car Show’. The Back to the 50s event is happening on the Minnesota fairgrounds every June and it is definitely a sight to see… With 11,500 registered collector cars, hundred of thousands of visitors… How could a photographer resist?

I’m not a ‘car person’ but I appreciate them and the craftsmanship and passion that goes into restoring and maintaining those classics. I’m also not a crowd photographer, so whenever I visit such events, I set some limitations. This year I focussed my attention on getting close to ‘car people’, mostly as they were driving around the busy fairground streets. Using my faithful Fujifilm X100F and its 23mm focal length, I set me camera to shoot in Acros and I hit the streets!

Here are some of the car people I collected this weekend… which is your favorite?

  1. All nice photos. My favorite is the one with the little girl looking out of the back side window, with only one eye showing, third photo from the end.

  2. I particularly like the elegant man in the mirrored aviators. There’s a certain mystery in photos where the subject’s eyes are obscured by sunglasses.
