Je Suis Paris.
I can’t even begin to describe how I’ve been feeling since the recent attacks on my beloved Paris. Being far away from my country in moments like these is very difficult. Unfortunately, it will be a few weeks until my next trip and I will have to find ways to cope with the horror of the recent events remotely. My friends and family are safe. But it hit particularly close to home as my nephew was attending the soccer match at Stade de France on that fateful night.
I find great comfort in the support my country is receiving from all over the world. And also from the hundreds of notes of love and compassion I’ve been receiving personally. Social media has a way of bringing people together in times of tragedy and that is a wonderful thing. I wish it had as much power to unite people any other time and prevent such tragedy to ever strike.
I am very angry and profoundly sad but today I want to share some love through a few images I captured in Paris in recent months.
Je Suis Paris!
Peace,
Valerie

Wonderful to see your beautiful photographs of Paris and the people of the city. A very brave and lovely response to the dreadful happenings, but one that shows what will endure – the people, beauty, love, and kindness.

Valerie:
I visit your site almost everyday and love your incredible work. I’m a silent observer, if you will, but wanted to send my thoughts and prayers to you, your family and all the residents of Paris. After all the years after 9-11, it is still fresh in my mind as it hit close to home. What helps to ease the horrible memories of that fateful day, for me, are street photos of vibrant scenes depicting a hustling, bustling NYC and it’s fascinating inhabitants. Your photos (and those of many other gifted photographers) document this artistically and beautifully. Thank you for the “therapy” and in time, your photos will prove therapeutic as well.
Peace and happiness,
Hank

Excellent work as usual! As a fellow X-photographer who was in Paris the night of the attacks, you were one of the first ones that flashed through my mind the following day… A blogpost about my 24 hrs in Paris on Friday the 13th can be found here. http://bjornmoerman.blogspot.ae/2015/11/pick-of-week-47-p-e-c-e-for-p-r-i-s.html

Beautiful images, Valerie! I can only imagine how hard it is to not be in Paris with all this going on. I’m here right now, and it’s surreal, to say the least. I feel for everyone here, this is so tragic. I’m glad to know your family and friends are well. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to catch up with you and Rich when you’re in Chicago next week, even if only for a short time.
